Alabama’s 41-34 win over Georgia positions it incredibly well for the remainder of the college football season, but it wasn’t all positive on Saturday. Wide receiver Kendrick Law, defensive lineman Tim Keenan, and defensive back DeVonta Smith all left the game.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer said Smith was dealing with cramps and returned to practice this week. Keenan was also at practice this week leading up to Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt.
However, Law’s status is less clear. “He’s still day-to-day right now, trying to work through it. He’s trying to do everything he can to get out there,” DeBoer said. “I wouldn’t rule him out, and I wouldn’t say he’s a for sure go right now.”
Law was expected to step into a more significant role this season as a junior, but he’s had a quiet start to the year with just two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown. He did, however, come through with a highlight-reel block on a long run by Justice Haynes during Saturday’s game.
This week’s matchup against Vanderbilt is far from the biggest remaining on Alabama’s schedule, so DeBoer will likely be cautious with Law and the other injured players on the roster. Law is listed as questionable on the official injury report for now. We’ll keep you posted with more news on his status for this week’s game.
