Davante Adams didn’t play in the Raiders’ win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday because of a hamstring injury. The star receiver picked up the injury in practice ahead of the game, and was held out of a game for the first time since joining the team.
Amid Adams’ recent trade request, it appears that he’ll be out of this weekend’s game against the Denver Broncos.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Adams is not expected to play in Sunday’s game as he continues to deal with the hamstring injury.
On Tuesday, Adams told Fanduel TV’s Kay Adams on “Up and Adams” that he was “unsure” if he’d be playing against the Broncos.
The receiver said that he didn’t want to turn a short-term injury into a long-term problem by coming back before he’s ready, which could explain the additional week off.
The New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints have been brought up as potential trade destinations for Adams if the Raiders choose to move him.
A trade to New York would reunite Adams with Aaron Rodgers following their All-Pro seasons with the Packers.
Going to New Orleans would put Adams back with close friend and college teammate Derek Carr, who influenced his initial decision to sign with the Raiders.
So far this season, Adams has 11 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown in three this season. He recorded his best game of the year against the Ravens in Week 2, catching nine passes for 110 yards and one score.
The Raiders are 2-2, and they’re looking to move above .500 with a big win over a division rival this week. It’s their second divisional game of the season, following a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers to open the campaign.
The Broncos come into Sunday’s game with the same record following their gritty win over the New York Jets. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix will look to earn his first divisional win with the Broncos, as the Raiders get set to visit Denver.
We’ll see if Adams is back with the Raiders for their Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, or if he’s potentially playing for Pittsburgh himself.
