Kentucky drops in the coaches poll after their SEC Tournament loss
The 2025 SEC Tournament came to an unfortunate end for the Kentucky Wildcats last week. After narrowly beating the Oklahoma Sooners, they suffered a blowout loss to Alabama, eliminating them from the tournament.
In the newest version of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, released on Monday, Kentucky dropped a few spots as a result of their loss. They fell from 19th to 21st, which is sixth highest of the teams from the SEC.
The Auburn Tigers dropped to fourth after falling in the semi-finals to the Tennessee Volunteers, who stayed at number six. The Florida Gators moved up a spot to third after winning the SEC Tournament, making them the highest ranked team in the conference.
Overall, seven SEC teams are ranked in this week’s coaches poll, and two more received votes. All of those teams made the NCAA Tournament field, along with five other teams from the conference. A record total of 14 teams will play in this year’s March Madness.
