Analyst delivers John Tonje March Madness prediction Wisconsin fans will love

John Tonje had a very forgettable game in the Big Ten Tournament Championship. It was clear that not only was Tonje gassed, but his whole team was struggling after four games in four days. It was a brutal offensive game for Tonje, but for the rest of the tournament, he was explosive and dominant. He went 18, 26, 32 to lead the Badgers into the Big Ten Championship game.

This week, everyone is trying to predict how teams and players will do in the NCAA Tournament. When the Field of 68 team was asked, “Who could be this March’s Kemba Walker and lead their team on a run into the championship, carrying the team the whole way?” Rob Dauster, the founder of The Field 68, said, “John Tonje.”

Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 both think John Tonje could carry Wisconsin to a National Championship

To be clear, they aren’t predicting a National Championship for the Wisconsin Badgers. They are predicting that if there is a player in this tournament capable of carrying their team to a title, it’s Tonje. It’s hard to disagree. Tonje has the ability to take games under his control, and he proved that in the Big Ten Tournament.

“I could see John Tonje averaging 28 a game and carrying Wisconsin past Montana, past BYU, past Alabama, past Duke into the Final Four and winning a National Championship. “

Rob Dauster

Jeff Goodman was clearly frustrated in the clip, not because Dauster was wrong but because “You took mine! That was my pick.” Goodman also had Tonje as his answer to this question. John Fanta was enjoying the whole schtick but did chime in with, “He’s coming off a 1-14 performance against Michigan.” And Dauster answered, “Good, he’s due. He got it all out of his system.”

Goodman goes on to pick Braden Smith and is clearly not as happy with that choice but seems obliged to pick someone different than Dauster.

John Tonje leading Wisconsin to a National Championship would be a dream come true. There’s only one thing left to say to that idea: On Wisconsin!
