Alabama Defensive Lineman Tim Keenan Makes Major Career Announcement
Just a few days ago, Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kane Wommack’s defense received thrilling news that defensive lineman LT Overton will be returning for the 2025 season.
The positive decisions keep coming as defensive tackle Tim Keenan III announced he would be back for another season in Tuscaloosa on Saturday morning.
During the 2024 season, Keenan amassed 40 tackles and 2.5 sacks while anchoring Alabama’s defensive line. Keenan is a two-year starter who will provide experience and leadership in a room that will welcome transfer Kelby Collins, JUCO players Steve Mboumoua and Kevonte Henry, along with freshmen Justin Hill and London Simmons.
Overton and Keenan’s decisions come after the Crimson Tide lost three different defensive linemen to the transfer portal: Jehiem Oatis, Hunter Osborne, and Damon Payne.
Alabama’s defense finished 10th in the country in points allowed, with the Crimson Tide surrendering just 17.4 points per game. In three of Alabama’s four losses, the defense played well as it held Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Michigan to an average of 22.3 points.
The Crimson Tide closed the season on a negative note, with the Tide falling 19-13 in the ReliaQuest Bowl. The loss meant that Alabama began and ended the 2024 calendar year in the same way: by losing to Michigan.
