Jalen Brunson is the face of the New York Knicks. That much has been clear in the last two seasons alone.
But as the Knicks prepare for their third season in the Brunson era, a legitimate question must be asked. With the arrival of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, New York has a nice group of star players around their top point guard.
Could that actually diminish Brunson’s chances of winning the MVP award in 2024-25?
The reality is that in this age of analytics, it will be very hard for guards to win the coveted MVP award. Bigs are used now to run the offense more than they ever had and due to their efficiency grades, are more likely to earn the coveted awards.
So long as Brunson continues to be the focal point of the Knicks offense, though, New York should have a chance.
Especially if it means allowing Brunson to touch the ball more than anyone else in their offense.
