Livvy Dunne and Teammates Celebrate Another SEC Championship
For the sixth time in school history, the LSU Tigers gymnastics squad claimed victory at the SEC Championships.
Last night’s 198.200 was the highest score in LSU’s history of the event. The team edged out Oklahoma by 0.275 and the Florida Gators who came in third. Florida impressed the judges all night long with two perfect 10s.
Livvy, who is still recovering from an avulsion fracture in her left knee, was not able to perform but she was the ultimate cheerleader for her team. After the event, she shared numerous photos and videos celebrating the win with captions including “Tigz too lit” and “purple reign 4ever”.
Whether Livvy is able to compete in the Regionals or the NCAA Championships is still to be determined. But as Coach Jay Clark has alluded to many times, Livvy and all of her teammates are hugely critical to their success. The actual results at the meet are only one part of a much bigger process in preparing for excellence.
After the meet, Jay Clark said to SEC Network, “I was proud of them. They trained that way all week leading into this. They seemed very confident. Typically, I walk into a meet like this and the gears are grinding a little bit but I didn’t have a lot of anxiety about it, I felt like they were in such a good spot. They trained well on podium yesterday, they warmed up gangbusters. They just had it dialed in and they weren’t going to be denied. They started so strong on bars and I think that just set the tone.”
