Penn State Posts 2-Word Message Before Orange Bowl vs. Notre Dame

The Penn State Nittany Lions are preparing for their toughest test of the season not named the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Following an impressive victory over the Boise State Broncos in the quarterfinal of the College Football Playoff, Penn State will face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Orange Bowl. Head coach James Franklin hinted that star pass rusher Abdul Carter could be back for the game after leaving last week’s game against Boise State with an injury.

“At this point, I don’t think there’s anything stopping him from playing, but it’s going to come down to, how is he able to play?” Franklin told reporters over the weekend. “We’ll see. But his mentality is great. He’s excited about this week, but it’s too early to say at this stage.”

“…He’s doing great. His attitude is great. His mentality has been really good. We’ll see, but he’s taken the right approach and mentality, and it’s really going to come down to how he feels and how much practice he’s going to get during the week.”

Ahead of Thursday night’s game, the Penn State Football X – formerly Twitter – account posed a two-word message.

“Game 16,” the team said with an orange emoji.

Notre Dame enters the contest as a slight 2-point favorite, while ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Fighting Irish a 59.7% chance to win the game. The winner of the game will face off against either Ohio State or Texas, who play on Friday night.

Penn State and Notre Dame kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
