Will Campbell completely roasts media at LSU Tigers Pro Day for wild overreactions to his arm length disparity from NFL Combine
Will Campbell has obviously completely had it with all the talk concerning his arm length. And it makes sense. The chatter surrounding Will Campbell’s “short” arms for an offensive tackle coming out of LSU this spring has been never ending.
Yes, it is slightly justified to discuss arm lengths for offensive tackles considering it’s quite rare for a tackle to have 33-inch arms or below and start full-time at the NFL level. However, it’s the focus of seemingly every other question and comment for Campbell throughout this 2025 NFL Draft process. So, when it came time for Will Campbell to speak with the media at the LSU Tigers Pro Day he finally didn’t hold back anymore.
Will Campbell, OT LSU Roasts Pro Day Media
The very first question that Will Campbell was asked following the LSU Pro Day was once again on his arm length, and he made sure to let the reporter (and others) know that NFL teams clearly don’t care. Then he further emphasized that it’s really just media people who seem to care so much (as you can see in the post below).
“Well there was a lot of people at the NFL Combine who had messed up measurements. That’s why you don’t really see too much about it other than media people because nobody really bought into it and quite frankly nobody really cares. I knew my arms were 33 inches. Everybody kind of had on every height, weight, wingspan, arm length–everybody was kind of deducted at the NFL Combine. And that’s why I measured in again today even though I didn’t do anything because I knew that that’s not right.”
Campbell’s comments were a bit exaggerative as it’s quite clear that NFL decision makers do in fact care about arm length to an extent, but it would make sense for many teams to reassure Campbell that in his case he shouldn’t worry. His consistency in pass blocking and win rates on tape are just too strong for him not to be a Top 10 or 15 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Campbell continued, because he wanted to emphasize just how useless he thinks the entire narrative on his arm length really is:
“For two years, nobody had any measurements on me and nobody said anything about my play. So, now all of a sudden an arm length decides if I’m a good player or not. I think it’s BS. Any decision makers in the NFL, they don’t really care. It’s all people who don’t coach, and they don’t coach for a reason.”
In the end, it really should be considered BS if anyone believes Will Campbell’s arm length decides whether he’s a good player or not. He’s currently projected to be an early first round selection this spring. Worst case he falls just beyond the midpoint of the first round. That’s a good player right there, no matter the arm length.
Campbell’s comments were backed up later Wednesday afternoon following the LSU Pro Day as Daniel Jeremiah joined the Rich Eisen Show, discussing this very arm length topic (as you can see in the post below).
As Daniel Jeremiah spoke to in his comments, the wingspan and arm length (or any athletic results for that matter) quite often differ at the NFL Combine from what players see at any all star game or team pro day event. Jeremiah also encouraged considering the source, which is extremely important on prospects.
If a team doesn’t like a prospect they may hammer home something about the “red flags” on a player like the arm length for Campbell. While others may be more inclined to focus on the positives or round up on arm measurements if the scouts like Campbell (or any other prospect for that matter).
The arm length clearly has never been a significant issue for Will Campbell to this point in his career. It’s unlikely to be at the next level either. Hopefully media members finally get that through their head down the stretch here as the NFL Draft approaches.
