The Toronto Blue Jays have a ton of work this winter but the main priority has to be re-signing Vladimir Guerrero to a long term deal which might mean the end of Bo Bichette in Toronto.
The Blue Jays are coming off a massively disappointing season in 2024 and are looking to turn things around in 2025. The first step should be signing Vladimir Guerrero who was by far their best player last season and has said on multiple occasions he wants to stay in Toronto.
Signing Vladimir Guerrero might mean the end of Bo Bichette in Toronto
Reporter Chris Landers pointed out that unless the Blue jays are expecting to have the largest payroll in 2025 by a long shot, Bichette will not be re-signed if Guerrero is.
“It’s hard to believe that the team can afford both (Guerrero and Bichette) while also doing enough to plug the many other holes on this roster,” Landers said. “The Jays will be faced with a choice: Move Bichette before he hits free agency next winter, or likely lose him for nothing but a compensatory draft pick.”
This is unfortunate for Bichette who has been with the Blue jays his entire career and despite rumors of not being happy with the team he mentioned that he would want to stay to win a championship with Guerrero which will not likely not happen.
