Mike Norvell, Florida State Receive Great Recruiting News on Wednesday
Head coach Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles are beginning to add some major pieces to the recruiting class of 2027.
After a 10-win season in 2022 and a ACC championship run in 2023, the Seminoles drastically fell off with just two wins last season. Norvell and Co. must keep talent rolling in if FSU wants to return to ACC and national contention.
Florida State signed the nation’s No. 19 class (247Sports) in the 2025 cycle. And the Seminoles sit within the top 13 in the class of 2026. Looking ahead to the 2027 cycle, FSU looks to be already in good shape with two four-star commitments.
The first came from safety Jaylen Scott out of Williamson High School (Alabama). The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back is rated as the No. 22 player at the position (On3).
Uniting with Scott in the class on Wednesday, safety Mekhi Williams committed to FSU. The Seminoles beat out Deion Sanders’ Colorado, Wake Forest and Liberty.
Williams (6-foot-2, 167 pounds) plays for Lennard High School (Florida). He is rated as the No. 20 player at his position and the No. 23 player in the state.
Williams racked up 35 total tackles with six interceptions as a sophomore last season and will only improve before joining the Seminoles for the 2027 season. It might seem like a long ways away for FSU faithful, but stock piling talent is critical for a program that is attempting to claw back to power.
The Seminoles will open the 2025 season at home against Alabama on Aug. 30.
