The Houston Rockets have two of the best young stars in the league in guard Jalen Green and big man Alperen Sengun.

Both players have shown flashes of brilliance on the court and could be the cornerstone duo of the franchise. However, their respective long-term outlook with the Rockets are not all that clear. Green and Sengun both have a guaranteed contract with Houston up to the end of the 2024-25 season. Plus, according to ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania, Green and Sengun don’t have max contract offers on the table at the moment.

Green and Sengun, both 22, are not just looking for mere extensions; they are looking for maximum deals. As Charania noted, both players believe they are max-contract players.

That said, the Rockets have time to think, as they have a season to judge both players, especially Green, who has yet to develop into a consistently efficient offensive weapon. Through three seasons in the NBA, Green, who was the second-overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, has averaged 19.8 points on 42.1 field goal percentage and 49.6 effective field goal percentage.

Sengun, on the other hand, has averaged 14.9 points, 7. 9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 52.8 percent from the floor in 210 games with the Rockets.

Fans react to Houston Rockets youngsters Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun updates

“Max contract for Jalen Green is INSANE.”

“Imagine giving Jalen Green anything close to a max 😂”

“neither has earned it yet. the only guys i would currently give extensions to are FVV, Amen, and Eason. Jabari could be given a Nembhard type deal too.”

“If Rockets give both of them maximum extensions and combine that with FVV’s team option, the cap situation gets really tight, especially with five more players on rookie contracts. I’m not even mentioning in Dillon Brooks’s contract yet. It’s time to consider letting someone go.”

“Sengun deserves one. Jalen green.. lol.”
