FSU’s 2025 recruiting class has been gutted like a fish over the last month or so with a plethora of decommitments due to their 1-6 campaign so far. Two of them came from the wide receiver position as four-star prospects Malik Clark and Daylan McCutcheon left the program. That leaves just four-star CJ Wiley as the only receiver for the next cycle.
As expected, this has alerted programs to try and flip other players from the Seminoles, and Wiley is the target of several big-name schools according to Sam Spiegelman, Rivals National Recruiting Analyst. Here is what he had to say about Wiley’s recruitment.
After a slate of June official visits, four-star Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton WR CJ Wiley declared for Florida State over Georgia, LSU and USC. Following a few trips back to Tallahassee, the No. 15-ranked WR in the Rivals250 was back in Athens earlier this month for the Auburn contest.
Georgia, along with LSU, Colorado and Auburn, are working to change the elite four-star receiver’s mind. Wiley is keeping the door cracked open for visits back to LSU and Auburn, and is also considering taking an official visit to Colorado. Nothing is currently scheduled, including any trips back to Florida State.
Wiley’s recruitment is far from shut down. Georgia has been zeroed in on the in-state bluechipper since the end of his junior season and should be a force to contend with down the stretch with LSU, his father’s alma mater.
Honestly, it’s going to be tough for FSU to keep Wiley. Auburn is 2-5, and yet Wiley still wants to get on their campus for a visit. The other three programs are all having good seasons. Georgia may not be the overwhelming favorite like years past, but they’re still one of the top teams in college football, and Wiley is a Georgia native which plays a huge factor.
FSU is going to have to dig deep into their persuasive ways to make sure they keep Wiley. If not, the Seminoles could see all three of their blue-chip receiver commits leave the class.
