Danny Wolf Sums Up Wild First Season at Michigan With Emotional 4-Word Take

The Michigan Wolverines battled the NCAA Tournament’s top overall seed the Auburn Tigers to a close 30-29 game at halftime before falling 78-65 amid a three-point barrage by coach Bruce Pearl’s Tigers.

After the game, star Michigan forward Danny Wolf, who transferred to coach Dusty May’s program after playing in the Ivy League with the Yale Bulldogs, shared an emotional four-word take on his first and perhaps last season with the Wolverines.

Wolf’s comments came after May predicted the 7-foot-tall, 255 pound junior would take his talents to the NBA next season after becoming one of the Big Ten’s top players in his first year on campus.

“Playing at Michigan this season was the greatest honor of my lifetime,” Wolf, whose Bulldogs beat Auburn in the NCAA Tournament last year, said.

Wolf had Michigan fans believing in a possible Final Four run with a dizzying array of jump shots, drives, and a first half dunk that made it look like Michigan would lead from wire-to-wire.

He finished with 20 points on 9-of-18 shooting in 34 minutes of action, hauling down six rebounds, blocking one shot and shooting 2-for-4 from beyond the three-point stripe.

Now, the real hard part begins for Wolf as he must decide between a run at the NBA or staying in Ann Arbor for what would likely be his final collegiate season.

He led Michigan to the cusp of an Elite 8 and regular season Big Ten Championship while helping Dusty May’s team secure a Big Ten Tournament Championship.

The sky is the limit for May’s program in the near future. Getting Wolf back for last more season could accelerate his program’s climb back to the top.
