According to reports, Baltimore Orioles star Anthony Santander will not be returning to and it looks like the Toronto Blue Jays are the front runners to sign him.
Santander is coming off a career year in 2024 as he hit 44 homeruns on the season to go along with 102 RBIs which is why he is set to sign a massive contract in the off-season.
“The 30-year-old corner fielder is coming off a career-high 44 home runs this past season, and he’s averaged 35 home runs and 95 RBI per season with a .795 OPS over the last three years. Plus, this takes some talent away from the Baltimore Orioles. Anthony Santander contract prediction: five years, $115 million.”
Blue Jays front runners to sign Orioles free agent Anthony Santander
Insider Matt Johnson believes that the Blue Jays have a very slight chance of actually landing Juan Soto and since they are looking to bring in a power hitter this off-season, Santander could be the next best option.
He had the best season of his career in 2024 and, clubbed 44 home runs and drove in 102 runs. Now, he will be a free agent and certainly will cash in. It doesn’t seem likely that he will be back in Baltimore, and Sportsnaut’s Matt Johnson predicted that he will sign in the division with the rival Toronto Blue Jays. -McAvoy
Santander could be a great fit for the Blue Jays that need to bring in some big time hitters as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cannot carry the entire load himself every year and Santander could definitely help take some weight off of his shoulders.
However many worry that this past season will end up being Santander’s best year and whoever ends up signing him will be overpaying as he is projected to sign a 5 year $115 million contract.
