Clay Travis’ Message Resurfaces After Tennessee’s Blowout Loss Ends Final Four Hopes
Tennessee Volunteers fans may want to stay off social media after the team’s recent 19-point loss to the Houston Cougars in the Elite Eight. Outkick’s Clay Travis is one of the more outspoken Vols fans, but his recent comments have fans poking the media personality.
Travis was preparing for the Tennessee men’s basketball program to make its first Final Four appearance. The problem is Houston’s defense had a lot to say about this idea. Prior to the blowout loss to Houston, Travis revealed that he already booked a trip to San Antonio, Texas, for the Final Four.
“I’ve booked my flight to San Antonio,” Travis said in a Saturday message on X.
“Vols are going to the Final Four. Time to tour the Alamo. (I will pretend I never sent this Tweet if Houston wins.)”
Travis later revealed that his trip to San Antonio was “fully refundable” indicating the analyst may not have been as confident as he originally appeared about the Vols’ chances.
“*The flight is fully refundable,” Travis added. “I’m not completely crazy. Tennessee basketball has crushed my soul too many times to count. But this is our year.”
Even before Tennessee’s loss to Houston, fans were skeptical about Travis’ decision to share these details.
“Now that is a jinx-worthy tweet,” one person responded.
“Please delete this until after Sunday afternoon,” said another.
Travis had a bit of fun at his own expense by quoting his tweet after the loss.
“At least I bought refundable tickets,” Travis noted in a message on Sunday.
