Sooners have one of the most underrated recruits in the entire country now and he’s bound to make noise during spring football

The Oklahoma Sooners need a bounce-back year from their offensive line, and they need it in a bad way. In 2024, their offense was terrible, and a large reason why was because of the offensive line and the depth they had at hand.

Hopefully, they have addressed that this year. If they haven’t, none of the other things will have even mattered — having a top-tier quarterback in John Mateer, and getting one of the best offensive coordinators in the country. If your run game is bad because of poor blocking by the offensive line, and if your QB doesn’t have time in the pocket, it also doesn’t matter.

This year will be a bit of a question mark there. They added some new pieces, including some freshmen OLs, and some guys for depth that played some big time football last year. So, we don’t exactly know how it will be. But we do know that the future of the offensive line is set up to be pretty good.

They have five-star freshman and the best tackle in the country last year as a senior in high school in Michael Fasusi, who picked OU over Texas and Texas A&M. Oh, and they have Ryan Fodje, an offensive lineman who no one is talking about, but has all the tools and the size to be great.

“He’s one of the most undervalued offensive linemen in all of high school football,” head coach Brent Venables said of Ryan Fodje during National Signing Day. “We identified him in camp a few summers back, and [Bill] Bedenbaugh did a great job of putting his name on him and offering him. He was one of the most dominant players in the country.”

Fodje, a four-star offensive tackle from Bridgeland High School in Cypress, Texas, is a guy that you feel like would have had more attention on him. Standing 6’5” tall and weighing 275 pounds, he is recognized for his adaptability. He currently plays tackle but could shift to an interior line position in college. He’s obviously willing to play wherever the team needs him.

And, so far he has seen a ton of praise from spring football practices. Former Sooners All-American offensive lineman Gabe Ikard has praised Fodje and has said that he is the guy to watch, maybe even more than Fasusi is.

He is bound to turn some heads in spring football.
