Roosters prop Terrell May has broken his silence — and attempted to hose down speculation — after it was revealed he was told by the Roosters that his services are no longer required.
The SMH, reported on Thursday evening that discussions had begun about him departing the club and join a rival immediately.
The 25-year-old was one of the Roosters’ best in 2024, and he signed a fresh deal worth a reported $950,000 across two seasons last year.
As it stands, he remains contracted until the end of the 2026 season.
A source reportedly told the SMH Roosters bosses don’t believe May fits the direction the club is heading, and the rising star won’t be short of suitors on the open market.
This has sparked speculation that May was involved in an off-field incident — however he took to social media on Thursday night to deny that.
“Nothing to do with off field stuff,” May said in an Instagram story.
The Tricolours are reportedly hoping to clear salary cap space ahead of making recruitment moves for the 2026 season and in the following years.
The Tigers, Dragons and Bulldogs have all been in the market for front rowers ahead of the November 1 free agency deadline.
Phil Gould and Canterbury powerbrokers have reportedly previously showed interest in recruiting one of the game’s best up and coming middle forwards.
May, meanwhile, is currently in England representing Samoa and informed his teammates he could be set to leave the Roosters altogether.
He was named in the RLPA’a Dream Team, being named as the Impact Player for his contributions this season off the bench under Trent Robinson.
