Missouri’s Caleb Grill has earned an invite to a Postseason Three-Point Contest

Caleb Grill, one of college basketball’s most prolific 3-point shooters, has earned a spot in the E*TRADE Men’s 3-Point Championship, solidifying his place among the nation’s best and putting the University of Missouri in the national spotlight.

Grill finished the 2024-25 season as the SEC’s sixth man of the year and ranked third in the conference from the 3-point line, shooting 39.6 percent.

He also captured a career-best 13.7 points per game and 398 total season points, while contributing 3.6 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.1 assists and ranking 78th nationally with 2.69 3-pointers per game.

The graduate student and Kansas native, who previously played at Iowa State and UNLV, transferred to Missouri in 2023. Unfortunately, his 2023-24 season was cut short after just nine games due to a season-ending wrist injury.

Despite the setback, the invitation comes after a standout season where the Missouri guard led the Tigers to 22 victories and a sixth-place finish in a fiercely competitive SEC that saw 14 out of 16 teams make the Big Dance.

Although his time at Missouri came to an end with the Tigers’ first-round loss to Drake in the NCAA Tournament (67-57), Grill’s contributions to the team will not be forgotten by Missouri faithful.

Mizzou Head coach Dennis Gates expressed his confidence in Grill’s future, stating, “I truly believe he’ll be on my staff one day,” according to Eli Hoff of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The 36th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships is set for 6 p.m. CT Thursday, April 3 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. Grill will be one of eight three-point specialists competing.

A full roster of participants for both contests has not been released, but the winner will have the opportunity to face off against the women’s champion on Thursday night in the Sketchers Battle of the Champions.
