Three BYU football standouts to watch for during spring practice

The BYU Football team has begun Spring Practice, and there are three players to keep an eye on.

BYU is already thinking about football. Spring practices are underway, and the Cougars are showing their skills. The Cougars have some real talent this year. Offense, defense, and special teams all look good, and this should be a fun season. BYU coaches have good faith in the team and BYU can only go up from here.

There are a few select players who stand out from the rest of the group. Every team has their standout players and BYU is no exception. BYU is a successful program because of the team, but there are a few players that do some heavy lifting. Let’s take a look at the three players to keep an eye on.

Jake Retzlaff: The man who silenced doubters in 2024 is set for another fantastic year. The quarterback known as “BYJew” was amazing last year, organizing several game-winning drives while completing 59.7% of his passes and throwing 20 touchdowns. He amassed a QB rating of 136.6 and kept BYU alive in several games.

LJ Martin: LJ Martin was an animal on the field last year. He followed up his freshman year with another big season, rushing for a total of 718 yards and gaining 98 passing yards. LJ is now a Junior and looks like a strong option in the running game. A proven starter from year one, LJ is a true star and could go places in the NFL.

Will Ferrin: You cannot forget about old reliable. Ferrin had a part in some of the best moments last year, with a game-winning field goal against Utah and key scores against Baylor. Ferrin has a cannon for a leg and has given BYU a lot of hope. This season the redshirt senior is expected to deliver more magic and hopefully give BYU big wins.

BYU is a good team. They play well together, get along perfectly, and have passion. Every team has its stars and these three players have contributed in amazing ways, each doing their share of work. BYU Football is full of magic and hopefully, the Cougars can exceed expectations yet again.
