Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins was asked about Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s contract extension at the GM meeting and once again failed to give any real details.
Guerrero is coming off an incredible season in 2024 hitting 30 homeruns along with 103 RBIs and 199 hits which is why most fans believe it is a must for the team to offer him a long term extension.
Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins fails to give any real details about Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s contract extension
The MLB GM’s are currently having their annual meeting in San Antonio in which reporters caught up with Atkins to ask him a few questions including the current situation regarding Guerrero’s contract extension.
As Atkins did at the end of the season press conference, when asked about the extension, Atkins said that he loves Guerrero and that he is really happy with how his 2024 season went.
Asked about a possible extension for Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins declined to get into specifics but said: “Love the player. I’m really excited about the year he had, especially the finish to it, and the leader that he is.”
Fans continue to worry about why Atkins refuses to give any information on the extension since if they planned or re-signing him there should be no reason behind keeping the information so close to the vest.
Atkins had no problem coming out and saying that he has no plan on trading Bo Bichette but for some reason will not give any information regarding a potential contract extension for Guerrero.
If the Blue Jays decided to not make Guerrero an offer, the fans will likely be extremely upset since it would make no sense to let their best player walk, especially when he has been vocal about wanting to stay.
