The MLB announced last night that Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho did not end up winning the Rawlings Platinum Glove award for.
Varsho had one of the best defensive seasons in recent memory putting up incredible numbers on the field and despite struggling at the plate all season, it never affected his defensive game.
Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho loses Platinum Glove award to Seattle Mariners Cal Raleigh
Most fans thought that Varsho would for sure win after leading the American League with 16 defensive runs saved at centerfield while getting another 12 in left field which seem to prove he was the best defensive player in the American League.
One of the best outfielders in the game, Varsho actually played all three outfield positions this season. He started 76 games in center, 46 games in left and 32 games in right. He appeared in 94 total games in center, logging 672.0 innings there. He made just one error in center and had four assists. The mid-summer trade of Kevin Kiermaier opened up center field full-time for Varsho. -Farkas
Unfortunately, Varsho ended up losing to Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh who also put up incredible numbers this season but most were sure this was Varsho’s year to win it.

Despite losing out on the Platinum Glove this season, Varsho at least finally won a Gold Glove award for the first time in his career.
