Collingwood star facing potential MRO scrutiny after high hit
The Magpies recruit could be facing a suspension for his bump.
Collingwood star defender Dan Houston could be in hot water for a high bump on Carlton’s Lachie Fogarty.
Houston hit Forgarty with a high bump late in the second quarter, jumping in the air while bracing his shoulder.
The high bump meant Fogarty had to undergo a concussion test, however the Blues forward passed and will return to action.
The action itself however could see Houston facing a suspension should the Match Review Officer deem it worthy. A grading of careless conduct, high contact and medium impact would ban Houston for one match, while any more severe grading could see the star Pies recruit miss multiple.
Houston missed Collingwood’s Opening Round clash due to a heavy five-game ban at the backend of Port Adelaide’s campaign last season, banned for a dangerous tackle on Adelaide’s Izak Rankine.
Collingwood coach Craig McRae said he hadn’t seen the incident but gave his best wishes to Fogarty after suffering the head knock.
“I haven’t seen it, so I can’t comment. I’d be saying things I’ve got no comment on,” McRae said
“But I hope the young lad’s okay, Fogarty was it? So I hope that he’s okay, and he has no ill effects from that contest.
“But no, I haven’t seen it to comment.”
Since returning, Houston has made a damaging impact at Collingwood, averaging 21 disposals, 3.5 inside 50s, and three rebound 50s.
Houston had 23 disposals and recorded five rebound 50s in the Pies’ 17-point win.
Collingwood’s upcoming fixtures include games against Sydney, Brisbane, Essendon, and Geelong.
