Cincinnati Bengals fans are eagerly awaiting news on when star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will secure his contract extension, especially after Justin Jefferson’s recent deal set a new market benchmark. This puts Chase in a strong position to negotiate a record-setting contract with his team.
Currently, Chase has not been participating in the Bengals’ Organized Team Activities (OTAs), which has sparked some conversation among fans and analysts. However, it appears there’s no cause for concern regarding his commitment to the team.
Head Coach Zac Taylor shared that he has been in communication with Chase, describing their conversations as productive. “I’ve had discussions with Ja’Marr.
While I won’t dive into the specifics of what we talked about, I can say that our dialogues have been very positive,” Taylor remarked following a recent OTA practice.
Adding to the anticipation, Chase has indicated his intention to join the team for the Bengals’ upcoming mandatory minicamp, scheduled for June 11-13. This news has reassured many, highlighting his commitment to the Bengals.
Chase’s engagement with the community was also on full display recently as he interacted with children at a ProCamps event held at Sycamore High School. His offseason activities have included workouts in Miami and Dallas, and he also made a trip to California to practice with Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
“Me and Joe got together once in California for a throwing session. It was great catching up and getting some work in together, especially after his surgery,” Chase shared.
“Seeing Joe throw during what was essentially his fourth throwing session since his surgery was reassuring. He’s still got it.”
Chase’s absence from OTAs hasn’t gone unnoticed, but it’s common for veterans, especially those negotiating contracts, to miss voluntary workouts. As long as Chase attends the mandatory minicamp, it seems the team and its fans have nothing to worry about regarding his readiness for the upcoming season.
His collaboration with Burrow, in particular, signals that the dynamic duo is gearing up for another electrifying season. With talks of a contract extension progressing, Bengals supporters are hopeful that an agreement will be reached soon, ensuring Chase remains a cornerstone of the team’s offense for years to come.
