Florida Gators hosting two monster offensive linemen this weekend, would provide elite protection for DJ Lagway
Billy Napier’s Florida Gators are recruiting really well right now. They scored one more elite recruit in the 2025 recruiting class in cornerback J’Vari Flowers and are focusing hard at the linebacker position to elevate an already strong position group.
One group that needs some bodies is the offensive line. They have a very experienced group with four of their five starters returning this year, including center Jake Slaughter who might be the best in the country.
Florida Gators hosting two elite offensive linemen
With the offensive line being a place of priority for the Gators, they are hosting two offensive linemen per Gators Online with one being in the 2026 class and the other being in the 2027 class.
The player from the 2026 class is four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma. He ranks as the 120th recruit nationwide and the 14th-ranked offensive tackle. Mpouma spoke very highly of the program, especially his relationship with co-offensive line coach Jonathan Decoster.
“It came out the blue a little bit. I talked with coach Jon yesterday. He told me that he watched my film and thought I would be a great fit for the program. He said I would be good with the Florida Gators. Coach sounded like a pretty good guy, so I had no problem talking to him,” Mpouma previously told GO.
“They are a pretty good program. I think they’re pretty good and they do a great job with development. I also like the facilities even though I haven’t been down there yet.”
The other prospect comes from the 2027 class in Joshua Sam-Epelle. He currently ranks as the eighth best offensive tackle in the 2027 class per the On3 Industry ranking. Both players have one thing in common: they are both 6′-8.
That kind of height provides a lot of advantages, especially with length. It could be a trend that continues during Napier’s tenure.
The Gators are looking for high upside athletes and they might have found two more.
