The St Louis Cardinals announced last night that they have decided to non-tender former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Adam Kloffenstein.
The Blue Jays currently have a ton of former players on the market since prior to the non-tender deadline, there was 34 former players in free agency but that number has now gone up since last night.
Cardinals non-tender former Blue Jays pitcher Adam Kloffenstein
The Cardinals announced late last night that former Blue Jays pitcher Adam Kloffenstein had been non-tender and was now a free agent as the 24 year old will not look for a new opportunity.
The Cardinals have non-tendered RHP Adam Kloffenstein.
Kloffenstein was traded to the Cardinals back at the 2023 trade deadline along with pitcher Sem Robberse in exchange for right handed pitcher Jordan Hicks who did not last long in Toronto as he signed with the San Francisco Giants last off-season.
The #BlueJays dealt Kloffenstein to the Cardinals in 2023 for Jordan Hicks. He put up a 4.74 ERA as a starter in Triple-A last season.
Since being acquired by the Cardinals, Kloffenstein has been bouncing between the majors and Triple-A but was spent the majority of his time n the minor league. Last season he only pitched 1 single inning in the majors but had a 4-5 record and 4.74 ERA in triple-A.
The former Blue Jays right handed pitcher will likely be able to land himself a minor league deal this off-season but still has the potential to see some major league time if he continues to improve.
Since the Blue Jays are in need of minor league pitchers, it will be interesting to see if they make him an offer.
