Florida Gators recruiting ramps up at Orange & Blue game with firm message to elite five-star prospect

The Orange & Blue game for the Florida Gators was a huge event. They had the highest attendance of any spring game at the school since Tim Tebow was on campus and got some great news surrounding quarterback DJ Lagway.

Not only did we some standout performers during the game, including incoming five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson with school records in receptions (10) and yards (195). They also didn’t waste any time getting top recruits on campus, as they hosted one of the best in the country.

Gators make strong impression on five-star OT Felix Ojo

Offensive line has been a major priority for the Gators in recent weeks. They just hosted two monster offensive tackles on campus who both measured in at least 6′-7. Height seems to be a priority for head coach Billy Napier and that trend has continued with hosting five-star offensive tackler Felix Ojo.

Texas has brought some success for the Gators in the recruiting game with Lagway coming from Willis. Ojo is the number three-ranked offensive tackle, but number four overall prospect in the country out of Mansfield, Texas, according to On3 Sports’s industry ranking.

Napier, offensive line coach Jonathan Decoster, and the Gators made a big impression on Ojo on his unofficial visit with the biggest selling point being the potential to play as a true freshman.

“(What stood out) was talking with coach Napier and seeing what he sees in me, seeing how he sees me fitting in the program and how I would fit in the offense. I would say those were really the highlights of the visit.

His message was that I’m a top priority and I have a good chance of coming here to compete for an early spot and play early. “That’s really the main message they’ve been sending. I could really come here and play as a true freshman and ball out as a freshman.”

Napier hasn’t been afraid to play true freshman over his tenure with the Gators. In fact, last year’s squad played numerous true freshmen in starting roles, but it could be an uphill battle to secure Ojo. He’s already secured official visits with multiple powerhouse school, including the Texas Longhorns. The Gators are firmly in contention, but securing that official visit would be huge.

Securing Ojo to fortify an offensive line likely needing to replace four of their five starters would be a huge boost to the 2026 recruiting class.
