Lane Kiffin is known for being one of the bigger personalities in college football, whether it’s his humorous interviews or his social media jabs at other coaches.
In one of his recent posts, Kiffin took a shot at LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly and Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz for a viral video showing Drinkwitz playing a guitar with a recruit. Kiffin said, “Just when I thought BK’s couldn’t be beat,” followed by a facepalm emoji. That, of course, referenced Kelly’s viral video from a few years back of him dancing awkwardly with a recruit on a visit.
Many in the media appear to enjoy Kiffin’s jokes, but SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum is not one of them. He told the Tulsa World‘s Berry Tramel that he does not find Kiffin amusing and does not think his tweets are very interesting.
“Everyone in the media, Berry, we’re on the older statesman side of it, is in love with Lane Kiffin,” Finebaum said. “They think he’s hilarious. I don’t think he’s that funny. I don’t think his tweets are that interesting.”
Finebaum also said it’s not just the jokes he’s not a fan of; he’s also not a huge fan of Kiffin’s coaching. Finebaum called Kiffin’s coaching “underwhelming at times.” He pointed that out as a reason he feels Ole Miss won’t get over the hump and make its first College Football Playoff.
So, while some might be sold on Kiffin, Finebaum needs to see it before he believes it.
