Kyrie Irving Reveals Super Team ‘Dream’ With Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant

In a stunning shake-up that has reshaped the NBA landscape, Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers with Anthony Davis heading to the Dallas Mavericks.

While fans and analysts are still reeling from the blockbuster deal, Mavericks star Kyrie Irving has added fuel to the fire by revealing his long-held super-team dream alongside Davis and Kevin Durant—a vision that almost materialized years ago in Boston.

“It was a dream for Kyrie, AD, KD to be on one team and still keep JT and let him grow and then see how it goes,” Irving shared, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

Reflecting on his time with the Celtics, Irving recalled a pivotal moment: “I was caught in a hallway talking to KD, and everybody was like, ‘Hey, these two are working together.’ Then the rumors started with AD around the same time. We all had that vision to play together in Boston.”

Irving pointed to then-Celtics executive Danny Ainge’s role in the near-miss super team.

Danny had a large responsibility in that, trying to make it happen, make sure I stayed in Boston,” Irving added. “But we had some young pieces in JT and JB, and if we would have traded either one of them, who knows if they win a championship.”

The Celtics ultimately prioritized their young stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and the envisioned trio never came to be.

Fast forward to today, and Irving sees a renewed chance to fulfill that dream.

“Now, in our older age, as they say in our league, we get a chance to do something we envisioned a while ago when we were young kids, so it’s exciting now,” Irving said about finally playing alongside Davis in Dallas.

Irving, though, clarified that his comments weren’t hinting at any immediate plans for the Mavericks to go after Durant.

“Yeah, that has no foreshadowing either, on anything, guys,” he laughed.
