Xavier Worthy’s Super Bowl performance further cements his Texas Longhorns legacy

The Kansas City Chiefs fell well short of winning Super Bowl 59, but Xavier Worthy’s debut in the big game was a smash hit. The former Texas Longhorns star was the only real positive for the Chiefs in the midst of a 40-22 beatdown.

Catching eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns, Worthy proved to be a capable top option for the Chiefs moving into the future. With a maligned playmaking corps that couldn’t consistently produce on the world’s biggest stage, the Chiefs at least know they have one star to revamp the unit around.

The most shocking part of Worthy’s performance was that he became the first former Texas Longhorn player to score a touchdown in the NFL. While Texas produced Worthy, he was joined by fellow former Longhorns Charles Omenihu and Moro Ojomo in Super Bowl 59.

Worthy caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season and added another 20 rushes for 104 yards and three scores on the ground.

In three seasons in Austin, Worthy tallied 197 catches for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns.
