LSU set to receive official visit from 4-star recruit that recently decommitted from the Tigers

The LSU Tigers lost a key 2026 commit earlier this month, but they’re still in the mix to win that recruiting battle.

2026 four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy committed to LSU in early January before decommitting from the Tigers in early February.

McCoy, 6-foot-6/245 lbs from Tupelo, MS, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 10 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 5 player in the state of Mississippi. He’s also rated as the No. 100 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

The talented four-star recruit told On3 this week that he plans to take an official visit to LSU on June 20. McCoy also has official visits scheduled to Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.

McCoy mentioned to On3 that LSU is still in the mix and that he decommitted because he wanted to “open things up”.

It’s a big decision for McCoy so it’s more than understandable that he wanted to open his recruitment up so he can enjoy official visits and ensure that he’s making the right decision when he eventually signs with a program.

We’ll have some clarity on McCoy’s recruitment after he takes his official visits later this spring/summer, but Ole Miss is the program that will likely be LSU’s biggest competition for the four-star recruit.
