Georgia has ammunition for another star-studded recruiting class in 2026
The Georgia Bulldogs’ recruiting battle for an elite 2026 five-star recruit is trending away from UGA according to a new report.
Georgia is one of several programs hoping to sign 2026 five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.
Curtis, 6-foot-4/225 lbs from Nashville, TN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 3 quarterback in the nation and the No. 7 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The coveted five-star recruit was previously committed to Georgia, but he decommitted from the Bulldogs in October.
Georgia has continued to recruit Curtis, but according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, it’s the Oregon Ducks that currently have the momentum in this recruiting battle.
“He (Curtis) spoke highly of the Bulldogs this past week,” wrote Wiltfong on Tuesday. “But talking to several sources regarding this recruitment, I think it’s trending Oregon…Curtis has really connected with offensive coordinator Will Stein. He’s been out to Eugene twice. Dan Lanning’s in-home visit in January was impressive. This is building up towards Oregon.”
The South Carolina Gamecocks are also in the mix for Curtis, though this feels like a battle that’s ultimately going to down to Georgia and Oregon.
There’s still plenty of time for Georgia to surge back to the top of Curtis’ recruitment. Visits this spring/summer will be key in this recruiting battle. We’ll have a better idea of how this battle is likely to play out once those visits happen.
