Ben Chrisene has left Aston Villa on a permanent basis after four years at the club
Ben Chrisene has left Aston Villa permanently after signing a four-year contract with Norwich City with the option of a further year.
The defender signed for Villa in the summer of 2020 from Exeter City, going on to lift the FA Youth Cup in 2021. He featured five times in the Grecians’ first-team aged just 15 and then made his senior debut for Villa in the FA Cup third-round tie against Liverpool at Villa Park in January 2021.
Chrisene went on loan to Kilmarnock in the 2022/23 campaign was cut short by injury and last term, he made 18 appearances during a stint with Blackburn Rovers. He becomes the eighth permanent sale Villa have sanctioned this summer after Tim Iroegubnam, Omari Kellyman, Douglas Luiz, Sebastian Revan, Moussa Diaby and Viljami Sinisalo.
On signing for Norwich, Chrisene told the club website: “I’m excited to be here and excited to get started. The project and new direction is really exciting, not only for me but for the whole club.
“I’ve spoken to the head coach about what he wants to do. I’m really looking forward to working with him. I feel I’ve still got a lot to learn but hopefully it gels pretty quickly and we can hit the ground running.”
Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper added: “Ben is an exciting young player with lots of potential and further room for development.
“Physically, he has all of the attributes of a modern-day full-back. Under the guidance of Johannes and our coaching staff, we believe he can take more great steps and form a key part of our squad.
“We’re delighted to welcome Ben to our first team group and are excited to see what he can help us achieve.”
