Today, all MLB teams are on the schedule, which is good for Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) players. This means they have a full range of hitters to choose from, and several top pitchers are expected to start. Here’s who you need to have an eye on today.
Top Pitchers for MLB DFS August 4
Paul Skenes ($10300 on DraftKings, $11300 on FanDuel)
At this point, Paul Skenes is in the must-start territory. The Pittsburgh Pirates ace has been brilliant to start his career: 6-1, 1.90 ERA, 103 strikeouts, 0.90 WHIP. That’s in just 13 starts, too.
Corbin Burnes ($9500 on DraftKings, $10100 on FanDuel)
Corbin Burnes is one of baseball’s best pitchers, so he should be on the DFS radar every time he is tabbed to start. He’s 11-4 with a league-leading 2.47 ERA, 128 strikeouts, and a 1.04 WHIP.
Gerrit Cole ($8600 on DraftKings, $9100 on FanDuel)
Gerrit Cole hasn’t been great in his return from injury for the New York Yankees, but he’s still the reigning Cy Young in the AL. He gets the struggling Toronto Blue Jays today as well, so it’s a good matchup.
Top Hitters for MLB DFS August 4
Jose Altuve ($5700 on DraftKings, $3600 on FanDuel)
Jose Altuve has been hitting well all season for the Houston Astros: .304 batting average, 14 home runs, 47 RBI, .799 OPS. The star second baseman is a good DFS pick today as well.
Juan Soto ($6200 on DraftKings, $4400 on FanDuel)
Juan Soto has been excellent all season, but he’s also hitting the ball well lately. He’s hitting .308 with 27 home runs, 77 RBI, and a 1.021 OPS (which is third in baseball). Pick him up today.
Matt Olson ($4900 on DraftKings, $3400 on FanDuel)
Matt Olson is a good DFS pick. The first baseman had been struggling, but he’s begun to turn things around. He’s up to 18 home runs and has a climbing batting average and OPS.
Budget picks for MLB DFS August 4
Coby Mayo ($2300 on DraftKings, $2000 on FanDuel)
Coby Mayo hasn’t had a breakout since making his MLB debut for the Baltimore Orioles, but he’s due at any point to arrive. The prospect is extremely highly touted, so pick him while he’s cheap.
Orlando Arcia ($2900 on DraftKings, $2800 on FanDuel)
Orlando Arcia, much like his Atlanta Braves teammate above, has turned things around as well. The shortstop is up to 11 home runs and 33 RBI, and he’s a good pick at this value for August 4.
Alex Verdugo ($3300 on DraftKings, $2600 on FanDuel)
Alex Verdugo has not had an overall great season for the New York Yankees this year. However, he has been hot before this year and has been hitting ahead of Juan Soto and Aaron Judge a lot lately. That makes him a good pick at this value.
