Aston Villa have been Europe’s biggest spenders this summer having outlaid £151m on eight new additions.
Evidently, Unai Emery is eager to bolster his ranks as he prepares his team for Champions League football this season.
Villa aren’t prepared to rest on their laurels just yet, as they’re now eying a move to sign one of the most promising teenagers in the country.
A medical has already been booked.
Aston Villa book medical for Mason Cotcher
According to the Daily Telegraph, Aston Villa appear to have won the race to sign highly-rated Sunderland striker Mason Cotcher.
The England youth international has been of interest to a number of top clubs across the country including Arsenal, Manchester United, Rangers and Leeds United.
Arsenal even had Cotcher on trial but now Villa have stolen a march on his signature and have arranged a medical to take place on Friday.
The Villans have agreed a deal with Sunderland so all that’s left is to iron out other formalities over the coming days.
Maston Cotcher statistics
Cotcher is an England under-17 international and has been labelled a ‘wonderkid’ per Football Scotland.
The 2006-born has netted 12 goals across 31 appearances in the Premier League’s under-18s division and has already appeared for the under-21s.
Cotcher’s also been on trial with Ipswich Town and scored for their reserve side, so evidently he’s a step above his age group.
Villa will likely put him in the 21s with scope to make a few cameo appearances with the first team this term.
