Wilfried Zaha left Crystal Palace last summer but could now be making a return.
Selhurst Park legend Wilfried Zaha has left the club twice in his career, and the first time he came back not too long after.
This came as his move to Manchester United failed, but Crystal Palace benefitted upon his return and he remained up until the summer of 2023 when he headed to Galatasaray.
He gave his reasons for this move as wanting to be known for more than just Palace, but now a year on, he could be coming back.
This comes amid reports he is available for loan this summer and the Eagles are right at the front of the queue.
Crystal Palace keen on Wilfried Zaha loan
With Palace still looking to strengthen this summer, the news that Zaha is seeking new options this summer – with the blessing from Galatasaray would have been music to Dougie Freedman’s ears.
This comes according to The Telegraph which reports that Zaha could be set to return to Selhurst Park for a third spell with the club.
Zaha is on a lucrative £141k-a-week wage in Turkey, and therefore if he is to be loaned, the Super Lig side would want to receive a loan fee of around £9m in order to help cover his wages.
Despite a hefty asking price for a loan, Zaha’s proven Premier League acumen means Palace are among those who would be willing to pay the fee.
It is also added that Zaha is very well-regarded by both Steve Parish and Freedman – while we are also sure fans in SE25 would also be pleased by his return.
Zaha has been linked with a Palace return already this summer, with Galatasaray reportedly telling the Eagles that Zaha was for sale two months ago.
Bringing Zaha back to Selhurst Park feels right
Zaha left Palace at the wrong time, and if he returns this summer he will be coming into a club almost unrecognisable from the one he left a year ago.
This is due to Oliver Glasner’s arrival and the fact he has turned the Eagles from just aiming to survive in the Premier League to now targeting the top half and maybe even European football.
With this in mind, along with the football which has been played by the Eagles lately – Zaha could be well-placed to add to his 458 appearances with 90 goals and 62 assists.
If signed, Zaha could probably start in any of the three furthest forward positions, and aside from Ebere Eze he probably would.
