The Tennessee Titans are in the process of adjusting their lineup after the unexpected retirement of offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles. Just days after being named the starting right guard on the team’s preliminary depth chart, Charles decided to retire, citing his desire to end his football career shortly after initiating training camp with the Titans. He had joined the Titans this offseason following a four-year stint with the Washington Commanders.
In the wake of Charles’ departure, the Titans are now exploring alternatives for the right guard spot. Dillon Radunz, who was previously second on the depth chart for right guard, appears to be the leading candidate. Radunz, 26, was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft from North Dakota State. With 39 game appearances and 16 starts under his belt—11 from the previous season—and in the final year of his rookie contract, Radunz has significant incentives to excel if he secures the starting role.
Daniel Brunskill is another potential candidate for the position. Currently listed as the backup center behind Lloyd Cushenberry III, Brunskill boasts more experience, entering his eighth season after playing college football at San Diego State. Undrafted in 2017, he spent his initial years on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad before joining the San Diego Fleet in the American Alliance of Football (AAF) in 2019. His performance there helped him secure a spot with the San Francisco 49ers after the AAF dissolved. Brunskill has had four seasons with the 49ers, playing in 61 games with 42 starts. His first season in Nashville last year saw him starting 14 games at right guard, potentially positioning him for a smooth transition back into that role.
The upcoming weeks of training camp and preseason will be crucial for the Titans as they determine who will claim the right guard position on their offensive line.
