Kirby Smart and Georgia Bulldogs need to beat this one team to land the nation’s No. 1 RB
Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are almost there when it comes to landing the nation’s best running back, Savion Hiter, from the 2026 recruiting class.
But they’re going to need to keep pushing.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Georgia is right in the mix but Michigan is still the team that Hiter is eyeing.
“The Maize and Blue remain the program to beat going into the next wave of visits, but Georgia and Tennessee are right there,” Wiltfong said. “He is definitely keeping Ohio State warm as well. He wants to get back to Tennessee for spring practice. He will get back to Tennessee for a spring practice on April 5. He’s trying to get to Ohio State for a spring practice and another return to Georgia for a spring practice.”
Wiltfong also noted that Hiter has visited Georgia three times in recent weeks, though Michigan “continues to set the tone.”
Hiter, a five-star running back from Mineral (Va.) is the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Virginia and No. 21 overall prospect in his recruiting class.
He finished his 2024 junior season at Louisa County High School rushing for 1,060 yards on 150 carries, averaging 117 yards per game.
Smart and the Bulldogs will have at least one more chance to sell themselves with Hiter returns to Athens for an official visit on June 6.
