New York Jets running back Xazavian Valladay had a full day on Saturday during the team’s final preseason game.
He also had a moment on the sidelines where he had a significant collision with a coach.
The New York Jets and New York Giants faced off in the final week of the preseason on Saturday night, and one of the Giants’ coaches had no idea that he would need to be in pad and have a helmet on that night.
Early in the third quarter, Giants executive director of player performance, Aaron Wellman, was on the sidelines watching the game when running back Xazavian Valladay came running his way.
Following a completed pass, Valladay would run past one defender before he was pushed further out of bounds by two other defenders.
Xazavian Valladay couldn’t stop his momentum, so he went full speed into the Giants’ executive director of player performance on the sidelines.
Aaron Wellman was hit so hard that he flipped completely over. Luckily, he appeared to be unharmed as he quickly got back onto his feet.
Despite the huge hit delivered to him by Xazavian Valladay, cameras later showed Aaron Wellman smiling and laughing on the sidelines with players.
Xazavian Valladay Did All He Could Before Roster Cuts Are Made
With Dalvin Cook no longer in the picture, the Jets added running back Xazavian Valladay to their active roster in January and extended his contract to keep him with the team through 2025.
However, he still needed to show that he could put in the work and stay on the team.
On Saturday, Xazavian Valladay was given 14 carries as he produced 28 yards and caught six passes for 62 yards against the New York Giants, per ESPN.
We will find out on Tuesday whether or not Valladay earns a spot.
