Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a major injury blow.
Sheffield Wednesday’s poor start to the season may have been made worse by a recent injury blow within Danny Rohl’s side.
The Owls currently sit in 20th place of the Championship table and have lost their last three league games, losing 3-0 vs Millwall in their last outing.
It’s led to criticism of Rohl, who fans think needs to change up his style of play, especially when playing away from Hillsborough.
It’s also led to criticism of certain players, with fans unhappy with Barry Bannan who’s since been defended by BBC pundit Rob Staton.
Another name who’s received mixed reviews so far this season is Yan Valery; the 25-year-old impressed on his debut but has struggled since, especially with the defensive side of his game.
Sheffield Wednesday signed Valery from Angers during the summer for a fee reported to be around the £400,000 mark.
He’s since started every Championship fixture for the Owls. But Rohl may now have to do without Valery for a period of time.

Sheffield Wednesday suffer Yan Valery injury blow
Valery is currently away on international duty with Tunisia who are competing in the African Cup of Nations qualification stages.
The nation beat Madagascar on Thursday night but Valery didn’t feature, and now the Tunisian Football Federation have revealed an injury to the defender.
They wrote: “After the training session on Tuesday evening, the player Yan Valerie felt some sharp pain in the calf, the doctor of the national team decided to subject him to MRI, which proved that he suffers a minor tear, which deserves a medical rest.
“Therefore, he will not be in the fault of the technical framework of the national team in the next two matches.”
Yan Valery injury opens door for one player at Sheffield Wednesday
Whilst Valery’s injury will be a blow for Sheffield Wednesday and Rohl, it does open the door for Pol Valentin.
The Spaniard has lost his place in the starting XI to Valery this season, but will no doubt come during Valery’s absence.
And Valentin’s skill-set may help get the Owls out of this current rut with Valentin arguably the better defender out of him and Valery.
If Valery’s injury proves to be serious, it could then prove difficult for him to get back into the starting XI should Valentin go on and impress.
Sheffield Wednesday’s next fixture is at home vs QPR later this month.
