Clemson Receives Unfortunate Transfer Portal News Amid College Football Playoff
Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers are looking to pick up the broken pieces and embark on another season in search of a national championship.
Clemson finished the 2024 season with a 10-4 record, punching their ticket to the College Football Playoff after an ACC title game victory.
While they were successful in making it to the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff, the Tigers suffered a 38-24 loss to the Texas Longhorns.
As they recuperate from the 2024 season and look to make a deeper run in the College Football Playoff, the Tigers received unfortunate transfer portal news.
On Wednesday, Tigers defensive lineman Tre Williams entered the transfer portal, per Pete Nakos at On3 Sports.
During the 2024 college football season, Williams recorded two sacks and 14 tackles. He’s been with the Tigers since the 2020 season, serving as a veteran presence within the defensive line group.
In his five-year career with the Tigers, Williams posted two pass deflections, four sacks and 37 tackles.
Williams originally committed to Clemson as a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 11 defensive tackle and No. 94 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports.
The 6-foot-2 defensive tackle was heavily recruited by powerhouse programs around the country, including Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State and more.
