West Brom are ready to sell Darnell Furlong this summer amid Premier League interest in the defender, according to Alan Nixon.
The report on Patreon (26 May) details that Furlong, 28, will be sold by the Albion board in order to raise funds at The Hawthorns after the club missed out on promotion to the top flight.
The right-back, who has played over 200 times for the club and was an ever-present in 2023-24, only has a year remaining on his current deal and could be sold for a sum of around £2m.
Premier League clubs are likely to be on amber alert over Furlong, who has played for the Baggies at the top level, with a good age profile and a competitive market rate.
Darnell Furlong to bid West Brom farewell
After an excellent season in a West Brom side with an impressive defensive record in the Championship, it comes as little shock that Furlong is being courted by Premier League clubs.
The fact he is 28, available for a cut-price fee in today’s market and has proven elite levels of fitness make him a viable option for several clubs at the top level.
It could be a breakthrough for Furlong himself, too, who will feel he is ready to have a longer-term crack at the top flight after 35 Premier League appearances in the relegation season of 2020-21.
There was strong talk of a new contract for the former QPR man around Christmas time which settled down, and with just a year left to run, it’s thought to be the last window in which Albion can command a seven-figure fee.
Furlong will leave a considerable void in a settled back line under Carlos Corberan, which the boss will hope can be boosted by Cedric Kipre and Kyle Bartley accepting the new deals they have been offered.
In other West Brom news, Baggies fans have been called to unite with Wolves supporters over this issue.
