LSU Baseball should vault into Nation’s Top Ranking with a win on Sunday

Coming into this week, the LSU Baseball team held the Nation’s second ranking trailing only the Texas A&M Aggies. Both teams had lost games which isn’t out of the ordinary early on in the season as LSU lost to Omaha and Texas A&M fell against Cal Poly. This week was going to be the biggest test for both teams as Texas A&M played four games and LSU played five games as both teams took part in early season Tournaments.

Texas A&M’s week started with a 7-3 loss to Texas State which only continued to raise concerns about the teams offense. Heading into the weekend, Texas A&M fans were hoping to their offense turn it around however, two games into the weekend the concerns have worsened. The Aggies lost 3-2 to Arizona and 4-0 to Oklahoma State with just one game left this weekend against Rice.

On the other hand, LSU opened its week with a 13-3 mercy rule victory over Nicholls State before heading to Texas for the remainder of the week. In Texas, LSU picked up a ranked win over 18th ranked Dallas Baptist in impressive fashion. To kick off the Frisco Classic, the LSU Tigers had to scratch and claw to stay alive against Kansas State before picking up the win. Nebraska then jumped on LSU before the Tigers offense exploded to clinch the Frisco Classic Championship for the Tigers.

Heading into Sunday, the Top Ranked Texas A&M Aggies are 5-4 with a four game losing streak while LSU is 10-1 with a 5 game winning streak. Texas A&M can win on Sunday and it really shouldn’t change the fact that LSU is the best team in the Country with a win on Sunday.

The Tigers have the better offense at this point in the season and heading into the season, a ton of people thought the Tigers would have the better offense but, the uncertainty was with the additions who have been stars for LSU. Where Texas A&M has lived up to its hype is with its pitching staff but, the offense hasn’t been playing well enough to support the staff.

On Sunday, LSU faces off against Sam Houston and if the Tigers are able to win as is expected, the Tigers should be able to vault into the Nation’s #1 ranking after a 5-0 week which included a Top 25 win.
