Kaleb Okoli is not a bad player and has forced his way into the Italian squad, and in his Premier League starting debut vs. Aston Villa, he was probably the best Leicester player on the pitch, so of course a very difficult decision to make to drop Jannik Vestergaard from the line-up.
Steve Cooper had decided to totally turn the four men defence of last season, not playing Ricardo Pereira and Jannik Vestergaard vs. Aston Villa, and instead use Kaleb Okoli and Victor Kristiansen.
This is something to address as it looks a very bold move from Steve Cooper to overlook players who are vital to the play Leicester did build up last season, having both Pereira and Vestergaard on the field at the same time, gives the team special quality that we lack at this point.
Jannik Vestergaard is a certainty at this moment in the Denmark national team, and he has kept Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Luka Jovic and Breel Embolo quiet as all games against Norway, Sweden, Serbia and Switzerland are recent wins.
Steve Cooper must be lacking information regarding the performances made by Jannik Vestergaard last season and might not be looking at Denmark games when they are on.
Jannik Vestergaard is far too good to be benched and by doing so you are losing the passing from the back as well as the height in defence, but still Caleb Okoli is not a bad alternative at all, but he will find it difficult to do the passes from the back and the work of Jannik Vestergaard.
Hopefully Steve Cooper will be looking at his options when he is out to get his first win of the season, taking on Crystal Palace away in the next Premier League game, coming up this Saturday.
