Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson has caught the attention of Liverpool and Everton, according to HITC.
Sunderland saw their perfect start to the season come to an abrupt end at the weekend, losing to Plymouth Argyle 3-2.
Despite Romaine Mundle’s 86th-minute equaliser, the Black Cats still suffered defeat as Joe Edwards pounced when Anthony Patterson spilt a long-range effort in stoppage time.
With the likes of Salis Abdul Samed and Ahmed Abdullahi still having to make a matchday squad after joining on deadline day, fans have a lot to be excited about despite their first defeat.
Alan Browne and Wilson Isidor have already started to impact this exciting Sunderland squad and with Chris Mepham and Milan Aleksic making the bench on Saturday, the Black Cats squad is starting to come together.
However, with so many exciting talents in the squad, it is not a surprise that clubs are coming knocking for some of their stars.
HITC are reporting that Liverpool and Everton are the latest clubs to be linked with a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
The 24-year-old could follow former Wearside star Jordan Pickford in making the move to Everton, possibly as the England international’s long-term replacement.
More stars wanted
Patterson is just one of many young stars on Wearside, many of whom have been linked with Premier League moves.
Teenage duo Chris Rigg and Tommy Watson have both drawn interest from top clubs looking to prise them away from Sunderland. Brighton had several bids rejected for Watson in the summer, while Rigg is one of the most talked about youngsters in the country at the minute with teams across Europe interested.
It is likely that Sunderland will not keep hold of all their stars, as seen by the departure of Jack Clarke to Ipswich this summer.
However, they have shown before that they will only let their key players go at their price tag. It has seen the club retain many of their stars for longer than expected, including Clarke himself before the summer move.
Can they bounce back?
Le Bris will want his men to bounce back following defeat to Plymouth. It was a poor performance from Sunderland who had set such high standards so far this season.
However, the fixtures don’t show any signs of things easing up. Next for the Black Cats is the first Wear-Tees derby of the season as Middlesborough head to the Stadium of Light.
Michael Carrick’s side have had a decent start to the season sitting 10th after the opening five games. They head to Wearside off the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Preston last weekend.
This fixture last year ended in a 4-0 win for the men from Teesside following Dan Neil’s controversial sending-off.
