Hull City and Sunderland are both interest in free agent goalkeeper Vladyslav Krapyvstov, according to Ukranian news outlet TaToTake.
Hull City and Sunderland were both busy in the latter stages of the summer transfer window as they looked to prepare their squads for the 2024/25 campaign.
The Tigers saw a host of influential players depart including Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves. It left the recruitment team on Humberside with a tough task and manager Tim Walter to pick up the pieces, perhaps contributing to their poor start to this season.
The Black Cats have enjoyed quite the contrast though. They might have lost to Plymouth Argyle at the weekend, but four wins from four in the games prior have made for a strong start to the Regis Le Bris era.
Now, both Hull City and Sunderland have been linked with a post-window free agent swoop.
As cited by Zorya Londonsk, Ukranian outlet TaToTake has said on Patreon that 19-year-old goalkeeper Vladyslav Krapyvtsov is attracting interest from the Championship duo. He’s without a club after leaving SC Dnipro in the summer transfer window.
Krapyvtsov is said to be on trial with Chelsea as he bids to find a new club but Hull City boss Walter has expressed a personal interest in bringing the youngster to the MKM Stadium.
A left-field link
It’s safe to say the Hull City and Sunderland links are left-field ones. As a free agent after being released from a Ukrainian top-flight club’s academy, it would be a big move to earn an English switch.
A trial with Chelsea suggests there’s a good chance of that happening. It would be quite the move for Krapyvtsov to join a Championship club, let alone one of the Premier League’s top sides.
The Chelsea interest may well mean the Tigers and Black Cats don’t get a chance to bring him in for a closer look at what he can offer. However, the second-tier pair have both shown they can be great for developing youngsters.
That could give them a helping hand in the rumoured fight for Krapyvtsov.
Goalkeepers on the books
While Krapyvtsov could be a promising young player, neither Hull City or Sunderland are crying out for another goalkeeper.
Walter’s Tigers have Ivor Pandur, Carl Rushworth and Anthony Racioppi all on the books. There are two promising youngsters in Thimothee Lo-Tutala and Harvey Cartwright too.
Meanwhile at the Stadium of Light, Anthony Patterson is the go-to number one. Simon Moore is the experienced cover for the homegrown ‘keeper while Blondy Nna Noukeu signed upon his exit from Stoke City in the summer.
Krapyvtsov would likely be one for the future, perhaps linking up with one of the clubs’ U21s sides initially.
