Wisconsin fans are all saying the same thing after watching Illinois beat Purdue
The Illinois Fighting Illini defeated the Purdue Boilermakers in an epic second-half comeback, finishing the game on a 13-1 run. The final score of the important Big Ten battle was 88-80. This game had all sorts of implications for the Big Ten Tournament (and very likely the NCAA tournament), even and maybe especially for the Wisconsin Badgers.
The Badgers were set to go into a strange set of tiebreakers that absolutely got confusing for the fourth seed in the Big Ten Tournament. However, the easiest way to ensure a double-bye for the Big Ten Tournament was a Purdue loss and a Wisconsin win over Penn State. Part of that equation is already worked out now thanks to Illinois. In fact, that’s what all the Badger fans are saying on social media.
Thank you, Illinois!

Illinois beat Purdue to give Wisconsin a chance to earn a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament with a win over Penn State
The Illini taking down Purdue simplified things in a mighty way for the Badgers. The path forward is way less muddy and the only thing that matters now is the win over Penn State. That will guarantee them at least fourth place in the Big Ten. They still could get third with a Maryland loss and a Wisconsin win. However, what mattered most for the Big Ten Tournament was getting a top 4 seed. Those teams that finish in the top four will not play until round three in the tournament.
Therefore, all the Wisconsin fans had the same reaction: “Thank you, Illinois!” Lisa may have had the funniest reaction on social media as she was rooting for the Illini to pull off the win. She said she’d need to take a shower. That’s amazing.
Cheering for Illinois tonight and now I need to take a shower.
