Social media reacts to Mark Sears’ game winning shot against Auburn

Mark Sears stunned Auburn at the buzzer in overtime with a free-throw line floater to lift Alabama to a 93-91 win that ruined Senior Day for the Tigers and gained some valuable momentum for the Crimson Tide to finish the regular season.
The game at Neville Arena on Saturday was the game of the year in college basketball. A heavyweight, back-and-forth bout between two National Championship contenders. It fully lived up to the hype even though not much more than pride was on the line between the two teams.
But the emotion displayed by both the Crimson Tide and Tigers in the aftermath of Sears’ buzzer beater told you all you needed to know. Both teams wanted that game badly.
As you might expect, social media blew up in the aftermath of Sears’ shot falling through the net. Here are some of the best reactions from X:
The best social media reactions after Mark Sears’ game winner to beat Auburn
one of the coldest moments in IBOB history.

This angle is so good. Sears hits the game-winner, walks straight over to the baseline with his arms folded and tells the Auburn crowd “that’s game.”

Alabama fans and players had fun trolling Auburn after the game. When you walk into your rival’s house and beat them, especially in dramatic fashion, you get to run your mouth. Those are the rules.

Toilet paper stock in Lee County is down tremendously.
Mark Sears got an underwhelming senior night at home and decided to ruin Auburns as payback 😭🫵🏻

Losing on Senior Night is never ideal. If Sears couldn’t win in his last game at Coleman, at least he went to Neville and made sure Auburn’s seniors went out losers on their home court, too.
Auburn fans if you want something to whine about maybe it should be your post defense.

No team has taunted and talked more trash this season than Auburn. And it’s understandable as to why, considering the Tigers have been the best team in the country all year long. They’ve backed up their talk with outstanding play on the court. But it was deeply funny to watch Bruce Pearl, Johni Broome, and their fans fly into an absolute tizzy over Grant Nelson’s “Crimson Crane” celebration after dunking on Dylan Cardwell’s head.
GRANT NELSON THROWS IT DOWN AND HITS THE CRIMSON CRANE 😭🔥

One more time for good measure.
Dear God,
Please let Alabama and Auburn play two more times this season.
Sincerely,
America

I am not sure my heart could take two more meetings with Auburn this year. I think both fanbases feel the same way and would prefer not having to play one another again this year.
I’m just gonna say it.
Auburn/Alabama is becoming the better rivalry over Duke/UNC and is where Gameday should have gone today.

A hearty shoutout to both Nate Oats and Bruce Pearl, who have turned the Alabama/Auburn basketball rivalry into the best rivalry in college sports, period. Most games are incredibly competitive with both teams playing at a high level. The vitriol is real. Neither team likes each other, but both teams bring everything they have each time they meet on the hardwood.
We are living in the golden era of basketball in the state of Alabama.
