Carlos Corberan’s West Brom release clause at The Hawthorns is close to £4million, according to DOOD.
The Baggies source reported via X on Sunday (22 September) that the Albion manager won’t be going anywhere this season, with his Albion buyout clause believed to be higher than has been initially believed.
Reports had suggested that a clause on Corberan’s current deal at The Hawthorns contained a £2million exit agreement [Football Insider, 18 September], but it seems as though that figure is wide of the mark.
Several clubs are believed to be keeping tabs on the Baggies’ boss following Albion’s excellent start to the season, with Southampton the latest team to be linked with the 41-year-old [Sunday Mirror, 22 September, page 72].
Will Carlos Corberan exit West Brom amid Hawthorns developments?
There seems to be a confidence around The Hawthorns at this moment in time that Corberan simply won’t be going anywhere, particularly after the Baggies’ excellent start to the season.
The 41-year-old appears to be committed to trying to get West Brom out of the Championship and into the Premier League and it seems unlikely that top-flight interest would be able to tempt him away from the project he’s built.
His £4million buy-out clause does mean that there will always be a chance that he ups sticks and moves away, but even if that was activated, it doesn’t mean the manager would necessarily agree to the move away.
Although Corberan has a very strong squad at his disposal, he is the primary reason the Baggies have been so strong at the start of the season. His management and coaching have managed to get the best out of each and every player.
It would be a massive blow to Albion if he were to leave The Hawthorns after such an impressive start as it would be next to impossible to replace him with a coach of the same level.
