Georgia Bulldogs pushing to steal top tier quarterback recruit away from SEC rivals as Kirby Smart aims to lock in next passer

Kirby Smart has been pushing hard to find Georgia’s quarterback of the future this offseason. Yes, the 2026 five star QB recruit Jared Curtis may be that answer as he’s set to visit with Georgia this weekend. However, Curtis may also land with Oregon since he and his family just had a great visit there last week. But don’t worry Georgia fans. Coach Smart isn’t putting all his eggs in one basket.

The Bulldogs are also hosting another potential face of the program this weekend as well in Trent Seaborn, a highly ranked four star recruit who may end up in the five star range as well when it’s all said and done. The difference with Seaborn is that Georgia will have to wait a little longer since he’s in the 2027 class. Regardless of whether Georgia can land Curtis (the number one QB in the nation) for 2026, Seaborn would be a great player to keep away from top SEC rivals who are also in the mix for his services.

Trent Seaborn, Four Star QB Recruit

For those who live deep in the weeds of college football recruiting Trent Seaborn is a name many have known for years, despite his young age. Seaborn has been viewed as a potential quarterback phenom for a few years now thanks to the fact that he was starting varsity football in 8th grade, blowing people away with his surprisingly developed talents.

All the top schools have been after him ever since his 2022 8th grade (high school) season. Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Texas, and more have all pursued him significantly, but now he’s turning his attention to Athens, Georgia this weekend.

Nearly half of the SEC has logged more official in-person contacts with Seaborn, so this visit could prove incredibly crucial in setting the tone for the rest of his recruitment with Georgia. And again, if five star Jared Curtis chooses Oregon, Seaborn could turn into one of the most (if not the most) important recruits for Kirby Smart and company.

Yes, Georgia still has Gunner Stockton, Ryan Puglisi, and Ryan Montgomery (still recovering from injury). The room looks like it’s in a good position for at least 2025 and perhaps beyond. However, if none of those QBs look like the true answer by the end of this year then the next Georgia quarterback-to-be will prove extremely important.

Seaborn continues to get better each and every year now, and he’s up to nearly 70 career passing touchdowns to just 16 interceptions. If he adds a bit more size this year and takes one more step in his passing efficiency there’s a good chance he–just like Jared Curtis–grows in to a five star quarterback recruit.

Kirby Smart also has offers out to 10 other 2027 quarterback recruits, but none of them have signaled significant momentum towards Georgia just yet. Seaborn could become the exception after this weekend.
